Old Masters, 19th and 20th Century Art

Elsie Rubin

Table Corner

Elsie Rubin lived on Manhattan's Upper West Side in the mid-twentieth century.  I was a little startled to see that I lived right behind her on West 85th Street less than twenty years after this was painted.  Rubin enjoyed still life painting and exhibited her work in shows in and around NYC.  She has a vivid sense of color and form.  This particular work brought her some recognition.
